Where to stay in Toronto?

The Pocket-friendly guide to staying in Toronto

The Pocket-friendly guide to staying in Toronto

If you are visiting Toronto then I would
recommend that you choose a place to stay that is near the subway. It offers
ease of travel all across the city. My guide is designed to help you places
nearby.

As you can see from the map above the
station that gives you the most flexibility is Spadina station. It is very
close to other connecting lines that can take you to union, king or queen
station. If on the other hand, you need to visit Bayview then your ideal place
to stay would be close to Sheppard Yonge Station. I recommend station because not
only does it connect you to bay view but
also to the rest of the city.

I will focus on places to stay at both Spadina
and Sheppard Yonge areas.

Spadina Station

Spadina Station

If you are coming to Toronto from the
airport then Spadina Station is 30 minutes by train, 20 minutes by taxi or if
you want to travel on the cheap you can use the line 300 bus and it will take
about 50 minutes to arrive at Spadina station.

Budget options

Toronto Travellers Home

So 1.7 km away from Spadina Station is
Toronto travelers Home. As of writing this article, the price was 106 Canadian
dollars a day. The place offers free wifi, self-serve laundry, air conditioning,
and tour & ticket assistance. Good deal right?

Kensington College Backpackers

Kensington College Backpackers

As the name says this is a place for back
packers, so expect that company around. It costs 130 Canadian dollars a day.
The place is homely and does offer basic amenities like self-parking,
Business center, Computer station, Limited hour front desk, TV in a common area,
Lockers available, and free wifi.

Pricey Options-Hotel, Kimpton Saint George

Pricey Options-Hotel, Kimpton Saint George

If you got the money to splurge then I
would recommend staying at this 4-star hotel. It is less 0.3 Km from the
station so you can walk it there if you have to or easily catch a cab. It costs
389 Canadian dollars a day but the amenities make the price worth
it.

They have a restaurant and bar/ lounge, Breakfast is available, WiFi in the lobby, 24-hour
fitness center, Valet parking, Business center, 24-hour front desk, Coffee/tea
in a common area, Air conditioning, Daily housekeeping, Computer station. A
beautiful place to stay.

Sheppard Yonge Station

Sheppard Yonge Station

Now Sheppard Yonge station is close to
Pearson airport. A taxi will take you there in less than 15 minutes. If you
need to use the bus, Line 34 bus will take you there in 20 minutes.

Let us look at your options:

Budget Options

Knights Inn Toronto East

It costs 113 Canadian dollars a knight to
stay at the knight’s inn. Unfortunately, the catch is that it is 9 km away from
Sheppard Yonge station. Included in the stay are breakfast, a pool, and free wifi. They also have free parking
and air conditioning. If you don’t mind the commute then this is a good place
to stay.

Airbnb

Airbnb has a large number of small flats
that are available with the price ranging from 60 to 150 Canadian dollars.
Unfortunately, most of them do not provide a name that I can use to identify
them but they do provide an address. You can book directly from Airbnb, and
most of these places are within walking distance of Sheppard Yonge station.

Pricey option

Novotel Toronto North York Hotel

This is a three-star hotel. The cost is 200
dollars a night and it is less than a km away from the station. It is a nice
hotel with a pool, free wifi, breakfast, parking, and air conditioning. 200
dollars is not that much to spend and given its proximity to the station, it is
worth coughing up the dough.

Well, folks, these are my recommended places
to stay in Toronto. I hope this guide was helpful.
